Many people who are trying to make a decision pray, “Lord, what should I do?” Then after about ten seconds, they make their decision. They don’t wait because they don’t know what they are waiting for. What should they expect? Should they be looking for something written in the sky or maybe an audible voice? The fact is, the answer is already available in God’s Word. If you take biblical principles and apply them to the decisions you need to make, then you invite God’s blessings in your life.
Instead of going on a hunch or a gut feeling, we need to give thought to our steps. We need to consider God’s word. Remember that God’s will never goes against His own principles, which are spelled out in his Word. With any choice you make you should be able to back up your decision with a scripture verse!
The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps. -Proverbs 14:15
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it
will be open. -Luke 11:10
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. -2 Timothy 2:15
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. -1 Corthinthians 2:10
3 rules are always important when using reading God's word.
1) Who is the author talk to?
2) When is this written?
3) How do I keep this text in context?
When following these rules, and reading God's word for decisions you will make always remember to pray, because The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord. Psalms 37:23. Even when the decision is hard. God promises he will be with us! Hebrews 13:5 It's always calming to know you never have to go through a decision alone!
